Inspired by Howlsthunder’s instructions on basic oil painting techniques and using textures, I experimented with some principles in Photoshop, such as building up paint. The feeling was like I’ve found something that’s been missing in my life all this time, it was that profound. And the final result astounded me. I really didn’t do this… really.

Red-green colours exercise
An experiment with using only one pair of complementary colours to create various shades. A study in oil painting technique, Photoshop-style until I can raise enough funds to get real oil paint.

Steps to making the final artwork
A record of how I made Be Mine. This is my first proper attempt at imitating oil painting in Photoshop. The result is quite something else, but I’m very intrigued and hope to explore more into this.

Reflection
I had some inspiration and came up this with piece. Got stuck for a bit but finally finished it with Beebee’s help
It features Satou Sei which was created in Illustrator. The rest was done in Photoshop. One of my favourite piece.

Ai-chan
My very first CG fanart of Ai-chan, my most favourite anime character. This was based on Katsura-sensei’s artwork. It was done in Illustrator. It does require a lot of patience, but I like the flexibility in reshaping and resizing. Extremely pleased with this one and am looking forward to doing more CGs in the future!

Amuro Namie
Not much problem with this piece as Namie is one of my favourite j-pop stars

Van Tomiko
One of the most difficult pieces I’ve drawn. Very difficult to capture Tomiko’s features. But I think I did well, right, Ban-chan?

Ueto Aya
One of my quickest piece, but somehow it still turned out pretty good!

Matsuura Aya
One of my earlier portrait of a Japanese idol, Matsuura Aya. Even though I was copying from a picture, I found it was an extremely difficult piece, as it took me a long time to get the angle of the face. I wonder what she would think??
