Kusudama Balls

Got motivated for the 2006 Chinese New Year festive season and decided to make these lovely Kusudama origami balls for my family. There are 20 pieces of paper required for each ball. It was alot of fun seeing the pieces come together and all these reaaalllllly cute balls come out at the end. *Thumbs up*. It is based on a diagram by Tomoko Fuse in her origami book Kusudama Origami.

Kusudama Ball - Butterfly

This was my very first Kusudama ball attempt. I was so amazed and inspired by the design that I thought I’d give it a go. It requires 60 pieces of paper as I also had to create the pattern paper needed to form the outcome I wanted for the flower pattern. Gotta be pleased with this one I must say. Although it took me about 1 week to complete it. It is based on a diagram by Makoto Yamaguchi in his origami book Kusudama: Ball Origami.

Sakura & Star Ball

Being amused by the different kind of origami balls that can be folded, I took time to experiment with these two. They both required 30 pieces of paper each. I really liked the result and have made them for my friends. Never fails to bring a smile to their face. ^_^ The diagram for the Sakura ball was by Toshikazu Kawasaki and can be found in his origami book 折り紙夢WORLD , although I don’t remember the author for the Star ball, oopsies.

A gift I made for Beebee after getting inspired by seeing all the Seiko fanart done by her. I also decided to include a short poem, to further express the love Sei has for Youko just like the love I have for her. I hope you like this darling!

I wanted to draw a manga, and this little story caught my attention. It was short and sweet, something I could tackle. In yoruichi’s words:

“It’s always bothered me how little these two interacted. They obviously care for each other deeply (not romantically, as much as I would like it in my fevered thoughts), and yet they don’t INTERACT.

But when they do, I love it.
*sigh* I’m hopeless.

Gokigenyou.”

Thank you, yoruichi.

P.D.Pirl Fanart ~ The Sei-Doll

Features: Mizuno Youko & Satou Sei
From: P.D.Pirl’s MariMite100 Drabble Challenge

“Sei, you made this?” Youko asked of the birthday present she had just received from Sei. It was a doll, but Sei, being Sei, it wasn’t just any doll: it was a doll made to resemble Sei.

Sei grinned cheekily, “This way, I can be with you all the time.”

Youko was touched, but she simply had to know one more thing: “Why is the face like that?”

Sei-Doll looked happy.

Too happy.

“You’ll be hugging it, right?”

“Yes…”

“Well,” Sei took the doll and rudely pressed it against Youko’s bosom, “I’d look like that, too.”

Youko turned red, “SEI!”

Be Mine

Features: Mizuno Youko & Satou Sei
From: Maria-sama ga Miteru

Inspired by Howlsthunder’s instructions on basic oil painting techniques and using textures, I experimented with some principles in Photoshop, such as building up paint. The feeling was like I’ve found something that’s been missing in my life all this time, it was that profound. And the final result astounded me. I really didn’t do this… really.
