Introduction
Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran
~ Carried by the Wind ~
This short, lesser known series, was a work by Daichi Akitaro of Jubei-chan and Fruits Basket fame. The anime is action-comedy with a good helping of drama. There aren’t enough episodes for the story to go indepth, but you’d often hear people say they wish it did, because the characters are so endearing. I was certainly smitten, so I’m dedicating this shrine to the anime that has given me so much enjoyment. This anime is ideal for light entertainment, when you want to just take a break, and leave it to the wind.

Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran is a light-hearted tribute to the classics of the likes of “Su-ronin Tsukikage Hyoga” and Kurosawa samurai films, regaling the chivalrous tales of a wandering samurai and his (her) sidekick. Ran, the samurai, drifts as the wind, and whose main pursuit in life appears to be finding her daily blessing of sake (rice wine). This daily blessing often comes in the form of Meow’s wallet, and thus Ran comes to depend on her newfound partner - even though she won’t openly admit to it. Meow, however, is in search of something, although she doesn’t know what yet (will she ever?). She has a flair for meddling in other people’s business with an utmost sincerity, which would often lead her into trouble. Her rescue often comes in the form of Ran’s swordmastery - and thus forms the chemistry between the duo that propels each episode. Each episode is indepedent, so there is no underlying story arc. We don’t get much insight into their pasts, although we do get to see various aspects of Ran and Meow, and get a sense of how their relationship develops throughout the series.
